Sean
M. Parr, tenor, is the
son of two professional musicians and is a graduate of Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Music and Mathematics modified with Computer Science. His culminating vocal project consisted of two performances of Schubert’s Die schöne Müllerin, as part of Dartmouth’s Vaughan Recital Series. Following graduation, Mr. Parr has continued to perform - as a Young Artist with Opera North, singing in their scene and aria program, as well as fully staged operas – Tales of Hoffmann, Rigoletto, and Pirates of Penzance; with Akron Lyric Opera –covering Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni and Frederic in Pirates of Penzance; and as tenor soloist - with Boston’s Chorus pro Musica in Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, the Wellesley College Orchestra in Handel’s Messiah, the Summit Choral Society in Brubeck’s La Fiesta de la Posada, and with the Mastersingers Chorale in Saint-Saëns’ Christmas Oratorio and Dvorak’s Mass in D. Mr. Parr recently completed his Master’s degreein Music at Florida State University where he studied voice with Roy Delp. He is presently working on his Ph.D. in Historical Musicology at Columbia University, focusing on opera, rhetoric, aesthetics, and vocal performance practice, and he also directs Columbia's early music Collegium Musicum. His recent performing career has ranged from George Dibdin in Marschner’s Der Vampyr at FSU, to Podestá in Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera in Salzburg, and to Gastone in La Traviata with Opera Del Sol.. |
