Amber
Youell-Fingleton, alto, is a PhD candidate in
Historical Musicology at Columbia University. Her
dissertation deals with Italian opera and court culture in Maria
Theresia's
Vienna. Her
other interests are American operatic reception, 17th-century English
theater music, and performance theory. She is also a member of the
Columbia Collegium Musicum, with whom she recently performed
Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with
period gesture and costume. Amber
received a BMus from the University of Utah in 2004, studying Music
History & Literature and Vocal Performance. She
studied voice with Marion Miller and was a member of the Utah Lyric
Opera Ensemble under Robert Breault. Previous vocal teachers
include Sally Sanford, Susan Boren, Claine Robison, Mary Fox and Denise
Walker. Amber has also studied piano with Marguerite Smith and Carol
Waletzko. Amber is originally from Simsbury, Connecticut, and now lives in Manhattan with her husband Tim. Thanks to Tim Fingleton for all his help on this website! |
